Prelude to Infatuation..PT 1.

a bit about the piece: This is part 1 of a short story poem series I've been brainstorming over...about a random meeting of two people in an unexpected place under unexpected circumstances...it begins in a jazz bar and goes on to other places and instances...and...well, you'll have to continue reading the series to get the whole story :-)...anyways..enjoy and stay posted for updates!

he sauntered through the bar
without a care in the world
with skin cognac colored, lips smiling
and eyes glassy
handsome
yet carefree
he caught her gaze
dazing her to the point of speechlessness
he walked on by
smiled
said hi
and continued on his way
leaving a divine whiff of his cologne
she watched him pass
shoulders squared
perfect haired, brown eyed fantasy
she didn't know why she couldn't break her stare
nor did she care
she was enchanted
she followed his scent
in the direction he went
hopeful
not desperate
but dire to catch another glimpse
then it happened
heart racing
chest pounding
she found him
sitting alone to himself sipping slow
from a shallow glass
she laughed to herself
'didn't look like the lonely type'
he glanced up
there they go again
those dreamy eyes breaking her down
drowning her sense of composure
she went over
he grinned and went in for the kill
nearly spilling the contents of his cup
they talked for a while
like old friends making up for lost time
'he's different' she thought
as she brought up her hand
to brush her hair behind her ear
still unclear of his intention
she mentioned 'I don't always hang out here'
didn't want him to see her as some eager barfly
getting high off picking up loners
he replied
'yeah i wouldnt picture you as the party type'
already she liked
where she found this convo going
knowing very well
this won't be the last time they meet...
